HEREAS , Hawaii ' s economy is vitally dependent on
tourism and any restriction which may serve to deter the
promotion of neighbor island tours would be very detrimental;
and
,A-EREAS , Hawaii ' s geographical make-up coupled with the
lack of passenger surface transportation between the islands
make air transportation between same a necessity; and
WHEREAS, the ATE Agency Agreement is a necessity, however ,
a certain provision thereof, if rigorously enforced, will
eliminate the ten per cent package tours to the Island of
Hawaii , thereby having the possible effect of concentrating
tourism on the Island of Oahu, particularly ,Iaikil<_i , to the
detriment of the neighbor islands ; and
..HER_,AS , the State of Hawaii as a whole should be stressed
as a tourist resort rather than just the Island of Oahu and
more particularly ai':i i ; and

and will seriously seriously affect our County' s economy,
