No. 829/Bill No. 297 <br /> PLACE: Council Chambers <br /> Kailua-Kona, Hawai`i <br /> TIME: 4:22 p.m. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawaii County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawai`i 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Bill No. 297, reports as follows: <br /> Bill No. 297, transmitted by Finance Director Nancy Crawford via Communication No. 829, dated <br /> August 29, 2012, amends Ordinance No. 12-86 as amended, the Operating Budget for the County of <br /> Hawai`i for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2013. The amendment is as follows: <br /> From: <br /> 010.3303.63 Federal Grants— HCPD Data Grant General $ 40,020 <br /> To: <br /> 010.201.5216.18 HCPD Data Grant General $ 40,020 <br /> The State Department of Transportation Public Affairs— Safe Community Program is providing an <br /> additional funding of$40,020 to the Hawai`i County Police Department's Data Grant Program. The <br /> grant funds will be used to allow the Police Department to purchase a Motor Vehicle Accident <br /> Report(MVAR) Data Export Function Server to enable them to transfer MVARs to the Hawai`i <br /> Information Consortium (HIC). In the current fiscal year's budget, $78,000 was appropriated in <br /> anticipation of this grant. <br /> The bill amends the Operating Budget by appropriating the additional funds in the Data Grant <br /> program account and bringing the total grant appropriation to $118,020. <br /> Pursuant to Section 46-7, Hawai`i Revised Statutes, County departments must obtain the consent of <br /> the Council to enter into agreements with the Federal or State governments respecting action to be <br /> taken pursuant to any powers granted by law to furnish, expend, and receive any funds or other <br /> assistance in connection with projects being or to be undertaken pursuant to those powers. <br /> A representative from the Police Department was available to appear for this item and several other <br /> items; however, due to the delayed start of the Finance Committee, Chair Ford released the <br /> representative and stated if there are inquiries from the Council Members, the Police Department will <br /> be notified to attend the next Council meeting. <br /> FC Report No. 253 <br />
