Councillors,
In the early 1990s, a blowout occurred in one of the geothermal wells. That blowout was barely
contained, requiring the weight of two bulldozers to keep the swelling earth from buckling under
the pressure from below. A quick and posthumously drilled water well eventually cooled this
near-disaster. SUCH A SCENARIO COULD HAPPEN AGAIN! The mayor is less-than-honest
in asserting that a plan already exists. Though there may be an evacuation plan, it has not been
implemented--that is, tested--and it is not an EMERGENCY RESPONSE plan, which is what the
level of potential danger really calls for.
Join with the majority of your colleagues and send the mayor and the people a firm message
about the gravity of this issue by overriding the disapproval!
