RESOLUTION NO. 148
WHEREAS, the Waiakea-Waena athletic field is now under
the control of the Department of Education; and
WHEREAS, due to the shortage of custodial manpower, the
Department of Education is unable to provide full maintenance
for this area; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation now has
a maintenance caretaker for the Joseph G. Andrews Gym on the
adjoining property, who can be assigned part time to maintain
said athletic field with no increase in funds; and
WHEREAS, the surrounding community of the Waiakea-Waena
area utilizes said field considerably for community recreational
,t ` activities; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation can
provide full maintenance for said field with no increase in
funds,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
in and for the County of Hawaii that the Waiakea-Waena athletic
field be and is hereby transferred from the Department of
Education to the Department of Parks and Recreation.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County Clerk be and is
hereby instructed to forward a copy of this resolution to
the Department of Education and to the Department of Parks
and Recreation.
