NOTICE OF SITE VISIT AND PUBLIC HEARING
RESOLUTION 308-12
DATE: October 10, 2012 (Wednesday)
SITE VISIT PUBLIC HEARING
PLACE: The site visit will convene at 3:45 p.m., Pāpa‘ikou Gym
at the Pāpa‘ikou Gym (address at right). 27-228 Maluna Place
Attendees will proceed to the site Pāpa‘ikou, HI 96781
(directions below).
TIME: 3:45 p.m. 5:00 p.m.

Pursuant to Hawai‘i Revised Statutes 92-41, notice is hereby given that a Site Visit and Public Hearing
of the County Council’s Committee on Finance will be held to view the property and hear testimony
from the public regarding the following resolution:
Res. 308-12 (Comm. 853):
Provides for the acquisition of easements in private property by
eminent domain, being a portion of Tax Map Key Numbers (3)2-7-004-118 and (3)2-7-027-065,
situated at Pāpa‘ikou, District of South Hilo, to provide a pedestrian public access easement to
the beach at Pāpa‘ikou.
The Committee will convene the site visit at 3:45 p.m. at the Pāpa‘ikou Gym. Attendees meeting at the
Pāpa‘ikou Gym will proceed to the site in their vehicles. The public hearing will be convened at the
Pāpa‘ikou Gym at 5:00 p.m. Prior to taking public testimony, a presentation will be provided by James
Waugh and Charlene Prickett.
Directions to Site Visit:
Heading north from Hilo on Highway 19, pass Pinky’s store. Take a right on Kopilimai Road.
Proceed south to the Waugh property. The road ends at the property. Park alongside of the road
near the entrance to the property.

All persons desiring to express their views on the above matter may do so orally at the hearing and must register
with the County Clerk’s staff. Those submitting written testimony at the hearing should bring 14 copies for
distribution. Public testimony may also be submitted before 12:00 noon on the business day prior to the hearing:
