Your Committee on Public Works and Parks, to which was referred Communication No. 359,
reports as follows:
Communication No. 359 is from by Mayor Stephen K. Yamashiro, dated July 1, 1999, submitting
for consideration and confirmation the appointment of Robert K. Yanabu as Chief Engineer of the
County of Hawaii. Mr. Yanabu is a licensed civil and structural engineer in Hawaii and in
California, and has been employed by the County's Public Works Department for 24 years.
Mr. Yanabu has been a special projects engineer assigned to administer and manage several new
highway and flood control improvement projects as well as assisted with programs and projects in
the Department's Solid Waste Division. He was also a supervisor in the Department's Engineering
Division, which was previously known as the Bureau of Plans and Survey.
Your Committee on Public Works and Parks recommends the confirnation of the appointment of
Robert K. Yanabu as Chief Engineer of the County of Hawaii.
