REPORT OF THE <br /> COMMITTEE ON GOVERNMENTAL RELATIONS <br /> DATE: October 2, 2012 Re: Comm. No. 846/Res. No. 304-12 <br /> PLACE: Council Chambers <br /> Hilo, Hawai`i <br /> TIME: 1:04 p.m. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawai`i County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawai`i 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Governmental Relations, to which was referred Resolution No. 304-12, reports as <br /> follows: <br /> Resolution No. 304-12, transmitted by Council Member Brittany Smart via Communication 846, dated <br /> September 14, 2012, authorizes the Chairperson of the Hawai`i County Council to take all necessary action <br /> to enroll the County into the National Association of Counties' Dental Discount Card Program (DDCP). <br /> The program may provide 20 percent savings for special dental procedures, and up to 50 percent on routine <br /> procedures. The DDCP can be used at participating dentists and specialists nationwide. The program will <br /> accept all county residents, with annual rates for individuals at $59 and for families at $69, for access to <br /> participating providers. <br /> Ms. Smart introduced Mr. Andrew Goldschmidt CAE, MBA, Director of Membership Marketing, who <br /> addressed the Council from Washington DC by teleconference. Mr. Goldschmidt explained information <br /> provided in a PowerPoint presentation as well as in the Careington Dental Providers handout. <br /> Ms. Ford asked Mr. Goldschmidt if there is any cost to the County.
