Subject: Refuse Pay as You Go
Council,
I think this pay as you go is a good effort to try and cut expenses.
However, I believe paying as you go as an individual at the transfer stations might not
work as well as expected. People will rebel and begin burning and disposing of their
trash again elsewhere.
What I suggest, which you may have already considered, is add this "expense" to peoples
property taxes. Maybe even add enough of an expense to the property taxes to cover paying
for trash pick up at each persons door that pays their taxes. This would create jobs, and
would help individuals feel as if it wasn't coming out of their pocket as often.
There is my two cents.
