As the President of the Fern Acres Community Association I want to firmly state we are
(opposed) to the request to up zoning as stated in council bill 168.
In speaking with many of our community association members here in Mountain View
many have expressed opposition to random spot zoning and other concerns have been
expressed with regard to setting precedent in this area without any kind of master plan.
However what is crystal clear to everyone and what we all agree on is that allowing a
commercial business such as this auto repair shop at an area where Highway 11 curves
around is simply not in the best interest of anyone traveling this Highway.
This area will become a very dangerous and the most accident prone bend on Highway
11 as more and more users commute to and from Hilo.
There is also a strong likelihood the quiet street of Nichols Road will become a very
busy street with commercial vehicles traveling up and down this narrow street.
I do not think it is fair to subject our neighbors in Mountain View to this kind of unwanted
noise and congestion.
