Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Communication No. 865, reports as follows:
Communication No. 865, transmitted by Director of Finance Nancy Crawford, dated September 27, 2012,
authorizes the acceptance of a donation from Mr. Michael Chang of Hilo Fire Extinguisher, the following
donation:
1) Supplies valued at$642.15 for use by the Hawai`i Fire Department during Fire Prevention
Week. These supplies include fire prevention give-away items such as hats, stickers,
magnets and pencils.
Pursuant to Article XIII, Section 13-12, Hawaii County Charter, the Council, on behalf of the County, may
accept gifts or donations of money. Also, pursuant to Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162(c), Hawaii
County Code, any donation or gift which does not fall within the capitalization procedures of the Department
of Finance shall be submitted to the Council by letter for its approval.
There was no discussion on this measure.
A letter of appreciation will be sent to Mr. Michael Chang, Hilo Fire Extinguisher, P.O. Box 1206, Hilo,
Hawai`i 96720.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Comm. 865, and recommends the
acceptance of the donation of supplies valued at $642.15 for use by the Fire Department for Fire Prevention
Week.
