RE: Override of Bill 256
Dear Honorable Council Members:
As a resident and land owner of lower Puna since 1994, I would like to record my objection to
the attempted override of Bill 256; regarding the Puna Geothermal Plant.
I feel that geothermal energy is clean, proven and effective. We only need to look at Iceland
and the Philippines to see that geothermal energy is an efficient use of resources. Further Ormat,the
owner of Puna Geothermal is a worldwide company with a proven track record. Please do not hamper
solid business investment in cash-starved,job-starved Puna and the County of Hawaii!
I also feel that the County of Hawaii cannot foresee the legal and financial burden that this
creates for the residents of Leilani Estates, Lani Puna Gardens and Puna in general should the override
go through. Additionally the County of Hawaii stands to lose a significant tax base with this overzealous
approach.
Thank you for the opportunity to share my concerns.
