Billy Kenoi, I strongly you as our Mayor to reconsider your vetoing of the bills named above. Please listen to my reasoning. I moved to Big Island, lower Puna as I was transferred by my company here from Maui June 1st. We rented a house on Pohoiki Road, which I found out on the first night we moved in was less than one half mile from the drilling operation PGV. We heard drilling noises, pounding, what sounded like a jet plane landing close by all night long, most every night. It was not possible to get a good night's sleep. Our 4 month old infant suddenly developed a cough, and a skin rash, which disappeared when we left. We had to evacuate the premises. I had to forfeit my deposit, find another place to live, pay anther deposit, and again pay all the moving expenses, to move my family to safety and to a good night's sleep. If there would have been an earthquake, or some other disaster, we would not have known how to evacuate the area. After hearing about the explosion in 1991. I am appalled that the State and County have not helped the residents of Lower Puna to identity a plan of action, should there be another emergency. We now live in Opihikao, so we are not hearing the drilling sounds and feel safer from danger, but we still insist on an evacuation plan to ensure the safety of my family. Also, when the funds are appropriated, I would like to inquire about how to ask for my moving expenses to be refunded, and the deposit I lost returned. I also believe that all residents within 5 miles of the drilling operation be equipped with noise, water and air monitors, to ensure there are no contaminants coming from the plant. We live 100% off the grid, and would rather see all these funds appropriated in the State and Country toward safe renewable energy, like solar and wind. Thanks for hearing my testimony.
