Subject: Override Veto of Bills 256 and 257
Dear Council Members
Hawaii County does not need the liabilities and infrastructural difficulties created by
expansion of geothermal facilities in close proximity to populations. The potential
negatives far outweigh the potential positives for the county and people alike; only a
small number of individuals stand to profit from this ill-advised effort, and only in the
short term. After money has been poured into the project for however far it proceeds
before legal action or an industrial accident shut it down, that relatively small number
of profiteers will be gone while all the rest of us are left holding the bag, forever, with
the remaining toxic mess and expense. Please represent the people of Hawaii county,
take a mature long view of this issue, and vote to override the veto of bills 256 and
257.
