Subject: Investment in Puna
Dear Sirs--
I have invested my life and my life's savings into a cottage at Kalani Oceanside
Retreat. This outstanding non-profit organization has worked hard for 37 years to bring
enlightenment, information, education, opportunity, and income to the area of Puna. Art
and culture, an emphasis on wellness, and the aloha spirit in everything we do are our
guiding ideas.
I need to know if it is SAFE for me to live her for the rest of my life (and I had
planned to live longer than only 10 more years) .
I need safer and more economical alternative energy sources. I need HELCO to buy all
of the solar powered electricity Kalani can generate on property. The trade winds blow
constantly. We need wind power turbines everywhere the wind blows and tie that energy
into the grid. Come on your scientists would love a crack at solving that interface!
I need incentives for even non-profits to invest in solar energy for heating ALL of
their hot water. I support Dominic Yagong's solar resolution, especially as a safer
alternative to geothermal:
Res. 277-12 (Draft 2) .
Thanks for listening. Sounds like a good idea to over-ride the Mayor's veto of bills that
protect us from geothermal mishaps. I do not want to live in a place where poisonous
gases could be mistakenly released without my knowing about it or knowing where I should
go in such an event. Do I need a sealed container with compressed air to survive a leak?
Thanks for listening.
I urge you to override the mayors veto of our evacuation bill 257 and our relocation and
health and safety bill 256. Please also require HELCO to change its renewable energy
threshold and allow more people to use solar. Free energy MUST augment our electricity
grid. Find a technological solution to the inconsistencies and make it work for all of
us !
