It is apparent that all though the numbers of sheep and goats on Mauna Kea have been brought to just a hand full,the Palila population is still declining. This begs the question: Are the sheep really the problem?Or could it be the use of these helicopters flying low to the tree tops and scaring away the parent birds, making them abandon their nests. Could the rotor wash from these helicopters be blowing the nests from the trees?These could be real possibilities so what do we do?I suggest cease and desist. If not for good,then at least until we figure out if these flights are contributing to the decline of the Paula bird. Lets just stop and think for a while. Wouldn't it be ironic if the helicopters that are flying to murder the sheep and save the Palila birds are actually the ultimate cause of their demise. Thank you for your support. Comm.
