Dear Council Members,
I am in support of bill number 260. I have been a registered guide in Alaska for 26
years. The state has a game board made up of hunters and wildlife enthusiast's. This helps
ensure that they have a vested interest and voice in the laws and regulations in the state
affecting hunting and wildlife management.
The wildlife of your great state is the number one reason I bring my family to Hawaii to
vacation. I can find sun and surf in a many locations that are both easier to reach and cheaper.
Last year I took my daughter out on the Big Island. We saw goats, sheep, pigs and a variety of
bird life. She absolutely loved her experience and made me promise to return. Most of these
species have been there for hundreds of years, certainly longer that most races of humans
other than the original Islanders. I urge you to consider to create a hunting advisory board so
that you can manage this valuable resource rather than destroy it. This will help to ensure that
the residents and visitors of Hawaii will continue to enjoy the benefits of hunting and wildlife
viewing for generations to come.
