RE: Bill 256, 257 and 267 related to Geothermal
Aloha Hawaii County Council,
Mahalo for listening to your constituents on the critical issue of geothermal
development in Puna.
I am a resident of Leilani Estates. I am against geothermal development.
You have the responsibility to put our health and safety above all.
Geothermal is a dangerous and outdated method of energy production driven by
corporate greed.
Puna Geothermal Venture is in a residential area. This should never have been
approved in the first place.
As a resident of Leilani Estates, I have concerns about property value — but I am much
more concerned about health and safety. We cannot have industrial pollutants
affecting our people and the environment. If we can't shut it down, then
move the geothermal plant.
I disagree with the position being taken by the Leilani Community Association.
Please review and take into consideration the excellent research and
community work being done by the Puna Pono Alliance. I support and agree
with their positions.
Please take this responsibility seriously for current and future generations. This needs
to be pono.
