REPORT 54
(AMENDED)
By a friendly amendment, the County Council amended Public Works & Parks
Committee Report 54 by increasing the term of service for Ms. Laura Y. Chock from
December 31, 2000 to December 31, 2004, to read as follows:
"If approved, Ms. Chock's term will expire on December 31, 2004."
as requested by Councilmember Curtis Tyler. The amendment was carried with no
objections, by voice vote:
AYES: Councilmembers Chung, Elarionoff,
Jacobson, Leithead-Todd, Pisicchio,
Smith, Tyler, Yagong and Chairman
Arakaki - 9.
NOES: None.
ABSENT & EXCUSED:
None.

Your Committee on Public Works and Parks, to which was referred Communication No. 494,
reports as follows:
Communication No. 494 is transmitted by Mayor Stephen K. Yamashiro, dated October 15, 1999,
nominating Laura Y. Chock of Council District 2 to the Hawaii County Transportation Commission.
Ms. Chock is a retired Teacher/Supervisor with the State Department of Education and has no
affiliation to any political party. She will be replacing Gary H. Ichinose whose term on the
Commission will expire on December 31, 1999.
Ms. Chock was present at the meeting and answered questions from Committee members regarding
transportation needs and issues in the County of Hawaii. Committee members expressed support for
Ms. Chock's nomination and appreciation for her willingness to serve. If approved, Ms. Chock's
term will expire on December 31, 2000.
Pursuant to Chapter 18, Division 2, Section 3 of the Hawaii County Code, the Transportation
Commission shall be appointed by the Mayor with the approval of the Council.
Your Committee on Public Works and Parks recommends the approval of the nomination of
Laura Y. Chock to the Hawaii County Transportation Commission.
