Subject: Police station for s. Kona
To all concerned-
I have a home in S Kona and am writing in support of a bill which requests a police
station/ presence for S.Kona.
1) We need faster responses
2) We need for the police to be more informed, to have more concern and interest for the
safety and well being of the S Kona residents.
I have a big personal grievance regarding the lack of response, care, fairness, justice,
and pure good "policemenship" regarding a theft from our home. The incident happened last
spring absolutely nothing has happened regarding the case.
We had some guests ( the Willis family) who had several things stolen and when our
caretaker saw the stolen items in some camper's tent nearby the house,the police were
called and then basically did nothing and chastised the caretaker for glancing on the
camper's tent.
The caretaker was made to feel like she was the thief. To this day the Willis family has
received nothing from the police except to say that it has been passed on to another
detective. My suspicion is that nothing will ever be done.
Thus my hope is that if we have a more local police presence we will feel like we are
safer and more protected- which is I think a main purpose of having a police force
