Re: Bill to Amend Chapter 24 of the Hawai`i County Code 1983 (2005 Edition, as
Amended), Relating to Vehicles and Traffic
Attached please find a bill for an ordinance amending Chapter 24, article 10, division 1,
section 24-255, schedule 3 (25 miles per hour limit) of the Hawai`i County Code 1983
(2005 Edition, as amended).
In accordance with Chapter 24, article 7, division 2, section 24-149(a)(3)(C), regarding maximum
speed limits, the proposed amendment reduces the speed to 25 miles per hour on this narrow, winding,
dead-end road in a residential district. This amendment, to be appropriately numbered, is in Ramseyer
format and reads as follows:
”( ) Pi`ihonua Road, beginning from its start at the southern terminus
of Bridge 25-2, extending to a point approximately .7 mile in the
northerly direction."
Due to time sensitive nature of this matter, this bill is being waived from Committee to the
Council meeting that is scheduled for November 9, 2012.

RE: Bill No. 331 : A Bill to Amend Chapter 24 of the Hawaii County Code 1983 (2005
Edition, as Amended), Relating to Vehicles and Traffic
Pursuant to Section 2(g) of Rule 4 of the Rules of Procedure of the Council of the County of
Hawaii,this written request is submitted with my approval that the above-referenced matter be
waived from the Committee on Public Works and Parks and Recreation to the full Council for
immediate action. In reviewing this matter, timely approval is crucial. It is therefore
advantageous that approval is granted and the matter be placed onto the next Council agenda for
review. However, in the event this request is denied, for whatever reason, I understand the
matter shall be referred to the Committee on Public Works and Parks and Recreation for
placement on its future agenda.
