COUNTY OF HAWAII :•_��'= ' �•• <br /> • • STATE OF HAWAII <br /> • <br /> �OF*NF' •• <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 322 12 <br /> RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE OFFICE OF THE MAYOR TO ENTER <br /> INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH HAWAII ISLAND PUBLIC HIGH <br /> SCHOOLS, PURSUANT TO HRS 46-7, TO IMPLEMENT THE HAWAII <br /> TEEN OUTREACH PROGRAM (HITOP) IN HAWAII COUNTY <br /> WHEREAS, Resolution 192-11 authorized the Mayor to enter into an agreement with the <br /> State of Hawaii Department of Health, Family Health and Human Services Division, Maternal <br /> and Child Health Branch to accept a grant to implement the evidence-based Teen Outreach <br /> Program in Hawaii County (HITOP); and <br /> WHEREAS, the Prosecuting Attorney's office has agreed to implement the project <br /> throughout the Island of Hawaii; and <br /> WHEREAS, the goal of the Hawaii Teen Outreach Program (HITOP) is to develop the <br /> positive potential of teens with the intended results of less risk-taking behaviors such as <br /> violence, school failure and teen pregnancy; and <br /> WHEREAS, Hawaii Revised Statutes, Section 46-7, requires that County departments <br /> obtain the consent of the council to enter into agreements with the federal or state governments <br /> respecting action to be taken pursuant to any of the powers granted by law to furnish, expend, <br /> and receive any funds or other assistance in connection with projects being or to be undertaken <br /> pursuant to those powers; now, therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII, that the Office <br /> of the Mayor is authorized to enter into Agreements with public high schools throughout Hawaii <br /> Island in order to implement the Hawaii Teen Outreach Program. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor of the County of Hawaii is authorized to <br /> sign the above-referenced agreement(s) and any related documents on behalf of the Office of <br /> the Mayor and the County of Hawaii pursuant to the Hawaii County Charter. <br />
