Re: Proposed Amendment to Bill No. 330, Relating to Vehicles and Traffic
Please find attached a proposed amendment to Bill No. 330. Bill No. 330 adds a portion of
Waianuenue Avenue to Section 24-255 of the Hawai`i County Code (25 mile-per-hour speed
limit). The proposed amendment is illustrated below by Ramseyer format with respect to the
contents of Bill No. 330 (material to be deleted is bracketed and stricken, material to be added is
underscored).
Bill No. 330 is amended by amending the material proposed to be added to the Hawai`i County Code,
as located in Section 2, to read as follows:
"( ) Waianuenue Avenue, from [Waiau Strect] Akolea Road to its terminus at the
southern terminus of Bridge 25-2."
A draft copy of Bill No. 330, Draft 2, is attached with this amendment incorporated therein.

AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 24 OF THE HAWAII COUNTY CODE
1983 (2005 EDITION, AS AMENDED), RELATING TO VEHICLES AND TRAFFIC.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. Purpose. The purpose of this ordinance is to reduce the speed limit in a
residential area, wherein the road is narrow and winding and there are little or no shoulders on
either side of the road, thereby promoting public safety.
SECTION 2. Chapter 24, article 10, division 1, section 24-255, schedule 3
(25 mile per hour limit), paragraph (c), South Hilo, of the Hawai`i County Code 1983 (2005
Edition, as amended), is amended by adding the following, to be appropriately numbered and to
read as follows:
"( ) Waianuenue Avenue, from Akolea Road to its terminus at the southern
terminus of Bridge 25-2."
SECTION 3. New material is underscored. In printing this ordinance, the underscoring
need not be included.
SECTION 4. If any provision of this ordinance, or the application thereof to any person
or circumstance, is held invalid, such invalidity shall not affect other provisions or applications
of the ordinance which can be given effect without the invalid provision or application, and to
this end, the provisions of this ordinance are declared to be severable.
SECTION 5. This ordinance shall take effect upon its approval.
