SUBJECT: Bill 292 relating to Geothermal Drilling
I would like to share with you the results of a survey that I did to find out people's
understanding of Bill 292.
On October 31, 2012, my staff surveyed people from Pahoa(at Malama Market, Longs
Drugs, Island Naturals, and along the main street)to Orchidland. The question was"If
Bill 292 passes, do you believe that PGV will NOT be allowed to drill from 7pm to 7am?
This was the result: out of 143 people surveyed,45 people said yes, 12 people said no,
and 86 people had no opinion or was not familiar with the bill.
I believe that many people misunderstand Bill 292. They do not understand that this bill
will not affect PGV's existing permits and stop them from drilling between 7pm to 7am.
