(Bill 316) HAWAII COUNTY CODE 1983 (2005 EDITION, AS AMENDED) TO INCLUDE
EGG PRODUCTION FOR HOME CONSUMPTION AS A PERMITTED USE IN
SINGLE-FAMILY RESIDENTIAL DISTRICTS
Adds item (13)to section 25-5-3(a)to include raising hens (excluding roosters or male
chickens) as a permitted use for egg production and home consumption use, with a
maximum of four hens per lot.

Comm. 872.5: From Council Member Donald Ikeda, dated October 19, 2012, submitting proposed
amendments to Bill 316. The amendments would set a minimum (1) side yard setback of
15 feet; (2) backyard setback of 20 feet; (3) lot size of 10,000 square feet; and (4) prohibit
enclosures in the front and side yards.

Vianne Reis containing sounds coming from hens.
