SUBJECT: Communication 1007 Request for Sidewalk Use Permit
Hawaiian Buy & Sell Publication Dispensers
Should permits be granted for the placement ofthe subject publication dispensers the following should
be included as a condition of approval:
Should the publication dispenser interfere with or obstruct any County facility, authorized
improvement, construction work or repairs, the permittee shall, at their own expense, either:
1. Remove the dispenser or
2. Relocate the dispenser to a location acceptable to the Chief Engineer.
We are recommending this language to account for unforseen sight distance problems that may arise at
existing driveways/intersections or interference with utility work/repairs or other construction related
activities. Certain dispensers may interfere with the Department's planned upgrades to traffic signals
and ADA facilities in downtown Hilo.
