I rely on the commercial water haulers for water as most of the residents. I have also used Ka'u Water Service Delivery and Lehua Water Delivery. I only use these haulers because I know they are legal and I know my water is safe. I called other water hauling companies and Lehua Water Delivery and Ka'u Water Delivery were the only companies to show me the proper licenses to haul water legally. I was very excited as well as the whole community to hear that the Ocean View Water Station would be opening. I was counting on being able to receive water cheaper as I am disabled and on a fixed income. I then was very upset to learn that the legal commercial water haulers were not given a meter to better service the community. I then found out that "ONE" company received several water meters and other companies received NONE. And the company that received a majority of the meters is not even totally legal. How can something like this be allowed to happen? The "legal" companies were not even given a meter? And anyone with a license Comm. No. 7o' 2_Ref. To: Cia(N Ref. Date OCT 16 20-12 and some other small requirements was allowed to obtain a meter. People were given meters that have NO — P.U.C. license that states water hauling, and cannot provide me with the proper proof so that I am protected with the delivery. A Commercial Drivers License is not the same as a P.U.C. Water Hauling License. Lehua Water Delivery and Ka'u Water Delivery have shown me proof on the spot when I have asked. I was also told that people were lined up extremely early in the morning for getting a meter. Why did the Department of Water Supply send the local commercial water haulers an application with the bill they send them. Non of this seams to make any sense and just does sit well with me. It is like there is a monopoly going on and the poor legal companies are suffering. On a further note, I have personally tasted the water from the Ocean View Well spigots. The water tastes horribly salty and I took two five gallon jugs home and the water killed my orchid. I refuse to use the water because I am worried about my health and mainly because of what happened to the legal water hauling companies. The community is upset and this should not be allowed to go on this way. It is not right! ! ! Thank you for taking the time to hear me and other community members out. Z4-4 .rdziec_ Cindy Farber P.O.
