HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 025 Draft 01 2012-2014 or`•-1 OF•h!!Y7 COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII ,TE•OFNF'� RESOLUTION NO. 25 12 A RESOLUTION URGING THE MAYOR OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII TO FLY ALL FLAGS AT COUNTY FACILITIES AT HALF MAST FOR TWENTY-SIX DAYS AND TO SEND TWENTY-SIX ANTHURIUMS TO NEWTOWN, CONNECTICUT IN MEMORY OF THE VICTIMS OF THE SANDY HOOK ELEMENTARY SCHOOL MASSACRE. WHEREAS, the following is a list released by police of the deaths on the campus of the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut: Charlotte Bacon 2/22/06 Grace McDonnell 12/04/05 Daniel Barden 9/25/05 Anne Marie Murphy 7/25/60 Rachel Davino 7/17/83 Emilie Parker 5/12/06 Olivia Engel 7/18/06 Jack Pinto 5/06/06 Josephine Gay 12/11/05 Noah Pozner 11/20/06 Ana M. Marquez-Greene 4/04/06 Caroline Previdi 9/07/06 Dylan Hockley 3/8/06 Jessica Rekos 5/10/06 Dawn Hochsprung 6/28/65 Avielle Richman 10/17/06 Madeleine F. Wyatt 7/03/06 WHEREAS,the Council of the County of Hawaii extends its heartfelt condolences to each family of the victims and to the entire community of Newtown, Connecticut; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that it urges the Honorable Mayor William P. Kenoi to fly all flags at County facilities at half mast for twenty-six days, one day for each victim. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County of Hawaii shall send twenty-six anthuriums to the First Selectman, E. Patricia Llodra, for distribution to each family of the victims and that the message on each anthurium be, "In Memory of Your Loved One with Aloha from the Island of Hawai`i." BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that funds for the flowers be provided jointly from the budgets of the Hawaii County Council and the Office of the Mayor, subject to the discretion of the Council Chairperson and the Mayor, and any additional donations provided by Council Members and members of the public. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution shall not be held for any potential reconsideration, and upon adoption shall be immediately transmitted to the Honorable Mayor William P. Kenoi for implementation. BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii is directed to transmit copies of this Resolution to the Honorable William P. Kenoi, Mayor, County of Hawaii; E. Patricia Llodra, First Selectman, Town of Newton, 3 Primrose Street, Newtown, CT 06470; and the Director of Finance.
