Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 15-13, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 15-13, transmitted by Finance Director Nancy Crawford via Communication No. 18,
dated December 4, 2012, authorizes the acceptance of a monetary donation of$5,000 to the Department
of Parks and Recreation to assist with parks maintenance operations. These funds, donated by the Big
Island Farm Fair, will be used by the Department of Parks and Recreation to help pay for parks
maintenance operations.
Pursuant to Article XIII, Section 13-12, Hawai`i County Charter, the Council, on behalf of the County,
may accept gifts or donations of money.
Mr. Ilagan suggested that donations bypass Committee and go straight to Council.
A letter of appreciation and a copy of this resolution will be sent to the 2012 Big Island Farm Fair,
Attn.: Donna Smith, 2023 Halekoa Drive, Honolulu, Hawai`i 96821, acknowledging this generous
donation.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 15-13, and
recommends its adoption.
