Lau as County of Hawai'i Managing Director, pursuant to the Charter of the County of Hawai'i. Mr. Lau served as the County of Hawai'i's Deputy Managing Director from December 2008 to December 3, 2012. During this period he worked effectively with the Managing Director in overseeing County operations island-wide and in particular those in West Hawaii. Due to time constraints, we are respectfully requesting a waiver of the nomination so that it can proceed to the full Council on January 9, 2013 for discussion and confirmation. The reason for this is Mr. Lau has been serving as Managing Director since December 3, 1012, and the administration would to ensure that the full council has a full and fair opportunity to consider this important nomination. Responsibilities encompassed the development of goals and strategic/action plans, development and management of operating budget (1.5 million), implementation of policies and procedures, supervision of 30 staff members and the management of 2 school facilities, vehicles and equipment.
