Re: Resolution to Convey Real Property to the State
The County of Hawai`i owns a parcel of land located in `Ainakea, District of North Kohala,
identified by Tax Map Key (3) 5-3-011:106. The Kohala Hospital, a subsidiary of the Hawai`i
Health Systems Corporation which is an entity of the State of Hawai`i requested on October 4, 2012
to have this parcel conveyed to them for use as an access road to its new emergency room. This land
has no value to the County and no County department, after being consulted, has expressed objection
to the conveyance.
Enclosed is a resolution authorizing the conveyance of real property, as identified above, from the
County of Hawai`i to the State of Hawai`i.

A. REQUEST:
Prepare a resolution for the conveyance of real property from the County to the State. This property consists
of approximately 9,525 square feet located in the district of North Kohala TMK (3) 5-3-011:106.
B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
The Kohala Hospital has requested the conveyance of this unused County owned remnant to be used for a
new access road to the emergency room. The existing entrance to the emergency room involves navigating
through the parking lot. This new access road will be much safer, and will also provide faster entry for
patient drop off. Various County agencies have been consulted and there are no objections to this
conveyance.
