Your Committee on Public Works and Parks, to which was referred Communication No. 665, and
attached Bill No. 208, reports as follows:
The purpose of Bill No. 208 is to amend Chapter 24, Article 10, Section 24-264, Division 2,
Schedule 12, (stop intersections) subsection (c) South Hilo, of the Hawaii County Code.
Communication No. 665 is from Deputy Chief Engineer Jiro A. Sumada, dated February 8, 2000,
transmitting Bill No. 208 for the Council's review and consideration. Mr. Sumada states that the
Department of Public Works is requesting that the following "stop intersection" be deleted since it
is obsolete: "Entering Shipman Street, from the Hamakua side of Kekaulike Street." In addition,
the language of the stop intersection at Hualalai Street, Ululani Street will be changed to
accommodate all approaches. This combines Item 19 and the former Item 5. This measure also
adds the 4-way stop at Komohana and Kaiwailani Street intersection.
Your Committee is in accord with the purpose and intent of Bill No. 208, and recommends that it
pass first reading.
