SUBJECT: TRAFFIC CODE AMENDMENT:
SECTION 24-275 - BUS STOP LOCATION REVISION –AUPUNI STREET
We request the Hawai'i County Code, Chapter 24, Article 10 (Schedules), Division 3 (Bus Stops
and Public Road Taxi Stands), Section 24-275, Schedule 23 (Bus stop locations), subsection (c)
South Hilo he amended by revising existing item:
(1) Aupuni Street. southwest side, from a point seven hundred SEVENTY-THREE SEVEN
feet southeast of Pauahi Street and extending forty FOUR feet in the southeasterly
direction.
This amendment was generated due to the Traffic Division's observation that having the
existing bus stop directly adjacent to the marked parking stalls impedes pull-in access to
the bus stop area. The proposed location for the bus stop will allow the addition of one
parking stall and a 46' no parking zone/gap for the buses to use for a pull-in area to
access the relocated bus stop.
A location map is attached for your reference.
