Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 36-13, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 36-13,transmitted by Finance Director Nancy Crawford via Communication No. 60, dated
December 21, 2012, authorizes the Mayor to enter into an Intergovernmental Agreement with the Judiciary,
State of Hawai`i, and accepts the donation of the North Kohala Courthouse, being located on Tax Map Key:
(3)5-4-005-001, situated at Kapa'au, District of North Kohala, County and State of Hawai`i, from the
Judiciary, State of Hawai`i.
The Department of Parks and Recreation will accept this building for use in conjunction with its present
facility located on the adjacent parcel.
Deputy Parks and Recreation Director Robert Fitzgerald, appeared before Your Committee for questions.
Ms. Ford and Ms. Willie expressed concern as to when roof repairs would begin. Mr. Fitzgerald could not
provide a firm date.
Mr. Onishi shared that this would be the second building in Kohala donated to the County.
Pursuant to Article XIII, Section 13-12, Hawai`i County Charter, the Council, on behalf of the County, may
accept gifts of donations of money, securities or other personal property or of real estate or any interest in
real estate.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 36-13, and
recommends its adoption.
