Your Committee on Public Works and Parks and Recreation,to which was referred Bill No. 11,
reports as follows:
Bill No. 11,transmitted by Public Works Director Warren H. W. Lee via Communication
No. 43, dated November 19, 2012, amends Section 24-265, Schedule 13 (Yield locations),
subsection(a) Hamakua, by adding"Pa'auilo Mauka Road,westbound and eastbound departures
to bridge no.43-8."
Councilmember Ford expressed safety concerns over the blind curves upon leaving the bridge.
Mr. Ron Thiel, Chief of Traffic Division, assured the Council that there is ample space for
vehicles to safely pass through, and no Yield signs are put up unless there is a workable sight
distance.
Your Committee on Public Works and Parks and Recreation is in accord with the purpose and
intent of Bill No. 11, and recommends its passage on first reading.
