Re: Operating Budget
Hawai`i Energy, the State of Hawai`i's energy conservation and efficiency program is providing
a rebate for up to $35,000 to the Department of Public Works (DPW) to be used towards future
energy savings efforts by DPW's Traffic Division.
Enclosed is a resolution authorizing the Mayor to enter into an agreement with the State of
Hawai`i in order to accept this rebate. Also enclosed is a bill for an Ordinance amending the
Operating Budget by appropriating $35,000 to the LED Light Rebate Program account.

A. REQUEST:
To accept and acknowledge energy rebate in the amount of up to $35,000.00 from Hawai'i Energy. This
energy savings is a result of street light conversions from Low Pressure Sodium (LPS) to Light Emitting
Diodes (LED's) in 2012. This Hawai'i Energy rebate will be used towards future energy savings efforts.
B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
Council action is being requested to accept rebate of$35,000.00 to be used towards future energy savings
efforts by the Department of Public Works Traffic Division. This rebate is being received from Hawai'i Energy
