Re: Resolution Accepting Donation
Enclosed is a resolution accepting a monetary donation of$3,500 from Kaiser Permanente, 2828
Pa'a Street, Honolulu, Hawai`i 96819 to the Hawai`i County Fire Department. This money will
be used by the Fire Department's Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Bureau to help purchase
ruggedized digital cameras for the purpose of taking photographs at the scene of an emergency.

B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
This donation was a result of a request submitted from the Hawai'i Fire Department (HFD), EMS Bureau to
the Kaiser Foundation Sponsorship and Donation program. Our submission was for funding to purchase
ruggedized digital cameras for the purpose of taking necessary photographs at the scene of an emergency,
most specifically for documenting the mechanism of injury (MOI) at the scene of a motor vehicle crash
(MVC).
Photographs documenting the MOI have become a standard best practice in the EMS industry as there is
tremendous assessment and treatment benefit for the emergency department staff by viewing the photo's
from the scene of an MVC. HFD had for years practiced this by way of instant Polaroid photos. However
Polaroid stopped production of the film in 2008. Cameras will be placed on each HFD EMS Unit.
