Dear Chairman Yoshimoto and Council Members:
RE: Cultural Resources Commission
Article 44 of the Hawai'i County Code establishes a commission to be known as the
"Hawaii County Cultural Resources Commission." I hereby submit for Council
confirmation the following nine individuals as nominees to this commission.
Deborah L. Chang (1-year term)— Ms. Chang is a lifelong resident of Hawaii. She is
a self-employed land use planner specializing in trails and access issues. Ms. Chang
states that she is not affiliated with any political party.
Ronald N. Dela Cruz (4-year term) — Mr. Dela Cruz is a lifelong resident of Hawai'i. He
is self-employed with Security Solutions of Hawaii. Mr. Dela Cruz states that he is not
affiliated with any political party.
Lily H.K.L. Dudoit (2-year term)— Ms. Dudoit is a lifelong resident of Hawai'i. She is
employed by the Sheraton Kona Resort and Spa as the Director of Cultural and Leisure
Activities. Ms. Dudoit states that she is not affiliated with any political party.
Nicole K. Lui (5-year term)— Ms. Lui is a lifelong resident of Hawai'i. She is a cultural
practitioner who has extensive experience with burials, and education in Hawaiian
culture and traditions. Ms. Lui states that she is not affiliated with any political party.

Barbara J. Meheula (4-year term) — Ms. Meheula is a lifelong resident of Hawai'i. She
is a retired recreation director. Ms. Meheula states that she is a member of the
Democratic Party.
Maile B. Melrose (3-year term) — Ms. Melrose is a lifelong resident of Hawai'i. She has
worked for the last 10 years as a volunteer, historian, tour guide and performer for the
Kona Historical Society. Ms. Melrose states that she is not affiliated with any political
party.
Boone Morrison (5-year term) — Mr. Morrison is a 53-year resident of Hawai'i. He is
the owner of Boone Morrison Architects, Inc., specializing in historic preservation.
Mr. Morrison states that he is not affiliated with any political party.
Alapaki P. Nahale-a (3-year term) — Mr. Nahale-a is a lifelong resident of Hawai'i. He is
the Director of Community Programs at Kamehameha Schools. Mr. Nahale-a states
that he is not affiliated with any political party.
Christine Y. Wada (2-year term) — Ms. Wada is a lifelong resident of Hawai'i. She is a
retired teacher who worked for the Department of Education for 38 years. Ms. Wada
states that she is not affiliated with any political party.
