Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 44-13, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 44-13, transmitted by Finance Director Nancy Crawford via Communication
No. 95 dated January 22, 2013, authorizes the acceptance of a monetary donation of$250 to the
Hawai`i County Department of Parks and Recreation. These funds, donated by W.H. Shipman,
will be used to purchase food and beverages for the Vulcan Baseball Clinic participants.
Mr. Ilagan gave credit to Mr. Onishi for suggesting the waiving of all donations to Council.
Several members of the Council are in support of the suggestion.
Pursuant to Article XIII, Section 13-12, Hawai`i County Charter, the Council, on behalf of the
County, may accept gifts or donations of money.
A letter of appreciation and a copy of this resolution will be sent to W.H. Shipman,
16-523 Kea`au-Pahoa Road, Kea'au, Hawai`i 96749, acknowledging this generous donation.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 44-13, and
recommends its adoption.
