Your Committee on Agriculture, Water and Energy Sustainability, to which was referred
Comm.No. 90, reports as follows:
Communication No. 90, transmitted by Mayor Billy Kenoi, dated January 11,2013, nominates.,
Mr. Willie-Joe Camara to a 5-year term to the Game Management Advisory Commission.
Mr. Camara is a lifelong resident of Hawai`i. He is employed by Veterinary Associates Inc. as a
veterinary technician. Mr. Camara states that he is not affiliated with any political party
Executive Assistant to the Mayor Charmaine Shigemura introduced Mr. Willie-Joe Camara as
the District 1 nominee for the Game Management Advisory Commission.
Mr. Camara was present in the Hilo Council Chambers and stated that he is a third generation
hunter from Ahualoa in the Hamakua district. He further stated that he is open minded and that
he believes for the past 30-40 years hunters have had no voice in decisions affecting them,
therefore he would like to be on the Commission to give them a voice.
Council Member Poindexter stated that he would represent her district and she knows his
grandparents and his parents well and she thanked Mr. Camara for following in his family's
tradition of public service.
Committee Chair Wille stated that she was glad Mr. Camara recognized the importance of a
hunter's voice in the decision making process and thanked him for his desire to fill it.
Council Member Ilagan thanked Mr. Camara for stepping up to serve on the Commission.
Mr. Camara is not required to be present at the final confirmation before the full Council.
Pursuant to Hawaii County Charter Section 6-9.3, there shall be a game management advisory
commission consisting of nine members who shall be appointed by the mayor and confirmed by
the council.

Your Committee on Agriculture, Water and Energy sustainability is in accord with the purpose
and intent of Comm. 90 and recommends confirmation of the appointment of Mr. Willie-Joe
Camara to the County of Hawai`i Game Management Advisory Commission.
