REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE ON PLANNING DATE: February 5, 2013 Re: Comm. No. 84 PLACE: Council Chambers Hilo, Hawai`i TIME: 10:16 a.m. Council Chair and Members Hawai`i County Council Hilo, Hawai`i 96720 Your Committee on Planning, to which was referred Communication No. 84, reports as follows: Communication No. 84, from Mayor William P. Kenoi, dated January 7, 2013 transmits the nomination of Mr. Roger Harris to the South Kohala Community Development Plan Action Committee for the Council's review and favorable recommendation. Mr. Harris,born in Honolulu, now lives in Waimea and has resided on Hawai`i Island since 1981. He served as a Planner V for the City and County of Honolulu from 1970-1978. Mr. Harris is a self-employed independent consultant and has been actively involved with both the South Kohala Resort area and the new development of the University of Hawai`i near Kona International Airport. He is a board member of the Puakai lima o Kawaihae and the Kealakekua Ranch Corporation, and a member of the Kawaihae Canoe Club and the Waimea Community Association. Mr. Harris' extensive knowledge of the construction industry and the planning process will provide an excellent viewpoint into the Action Committee meetings and discussions. Mr. Harris will serve a 4-year term. Mr. Harris in not required to appear before the Council for final confirmation.
