Your Committee on Planning, to which was referred Communication No. 84, reports as follows:
Communication No. 84, from Mayor William P. Kenoi, dated January 7, 2013 transmits the
nomination of Mr. John Mueller to the South Kohala Community Development Plan Action
Committee for the Council's review and favorable recommendation.
Mr. Mueller is a full-time resident of Waikoloa for one year, but has been travelling every year
to the Big Island for approximately 20 years. He has a Master of Arts degree and is nationally
trained in Mathematics. Mr. Mueller served as the curriculum coordinator at a Magnet school
and is now retired after 25 years of teaching. He is a volunteer for the National Oceanic and
Atmospheric Administration, a member of the West Hawai`i Astronomy Club and the Waikoloa
Seniors Group. Mr. Mueller's ability to teach and work with others in the public will be an asset
to the Action Committee. Mr. Mueller will serve a 4-year term.
Mr. Mueller is not required to appear before the Council for final confirmation.
For informational purposes Councilmember Kanuha voted "kanalua" then "yes."
Your Committee on Planning is in accordance with the purpose and intent of Communication
No. 84, and recommends confirmation of the appointment of Mr. John Mueller to the South
Kohala Community Development Plan Action Committee.
