No. 118 PLACE: Council Chambers Kona, Hawai`i TIME: 11:16 a.m. Council Chair and Members Hawai`i County Council Hilo, Hawaii 96720 Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Communication No. 118, reports as follows: Communication No. 118, transmitted by Mayor William P. Kenoi dated January 25, 2013, requests review and favorable recommendation of the nomination of Ms. Irma Sumera to the County of Hawai`i Pension Board. Ms. Sumera is a lifelong resident of Hawai`i. She retired from the County of Hawai`i in 2012, where she worked for 36 years as a private secretary. She is a member of Professional Secretaries International, where she served as past president, vice president and treasurer. She states that she is a Democrat. If confirmed, she will serve a term to end on December 31, 2017. Ms. Charmaine Shigemura, Executive Assistant to Mayor Kenoi, came forward and provided background information, expressed the Mayor's support, and requested Council's favorable action of this appointment. She informed the Council that Ms. Sumera is currently out-of-state and was not able to be present at this meeting. For informational purposes, Ms. Sumera is required to be present at full Council for final confirmation. Pursuant to Chapter 6, §6-6.4, Hawai`i County Charter, there shall be a pension board consisting of five members who shall be appointed by the mayor and confirmed by the council in the manner prescribed in Section 13-4. Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Comm.
