HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 073 Draft 01 2012-2014 JMSY OF N'�,y L�dUr COUNTY OF HAWAII _• STATE OF HAWAII ,tEOf RESOLUTION NO. 73 13 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF A MONETARY DONATION OF $50 TO THE COUNTY OF HAWAII TO HELP OFFSET THE COST OF SENDING FLOWERS TO THE FIRST SELECTMAN OF NEWTOWN IN MEMORY OF THE VICTIMS AT SANDY HOOK ELEMENTARY SCHOOL WHEREAS, Brenda and Larry Ford are donating $50 to the County of Hawaii; and WHEREAS, these funds will be used to help offset the cost of sending flowers to the First Selectman of Newtown in memory of the victims at Sandy Hook Elementary School; and WHEREAS, Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawaii County Charter provides that the Council, on behalf of the County, may accept gifts of donations of money, securities or other personal property or of real estate or any interest in real estate, and Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162 (a) of the Hawaii County Code states that any gifts or donations of money, securities, or personal property which fall within the capitalization procedures of the Department of Finance, may be accepted by Resolution approved by the Council; and WHEREAS, the Hawaii County Department of Finance has requested that cash donations of any amount be recorded and accepted through the formal Resolution process; and WHEREAS, the Department of Finance recommends the acceptance of this donation; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that in accordance with Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawaii County Charter, and Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162(a) of the Hawaii County Code, the Council of the County of Hawaii accepts this donation. BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that a letter of appreciation and a copy of this Resolution be sent to Brenda and Larry Ford, 81-950 Makahiki Lane, Captain Cook, Hawaii 96704, acknowledging this generous donation.
