Dear Chairman Yoshimoto and Council Members:
It is my pleasure to nominate Mr. Oliver "Sonny" Shimaoka of Council District 9 to the
County of Hawaii Transportation Commission. Mr. Shimaoka is a lifelong resident of
Hawaii. He is the Senior Pastor of New Hope Waimea.
Mr. Shimaoka is a board member of the Kaheleaulani Health Clinic and a past board
member of the Neighborhood Place of Kona and Hospice of Kona. He states that he is
not affiliated with any political party. If confirmed, Mr. Shimaoka will serve a term to
expire on December 31, 2016, replacing John Fernandez whose term expired on
December 31, 2011.
