Your Committee on Public Works and Pazks, to which was referred Communication No. 784 and attached
Bill No. 262, reports as follows:
The purpose of Bill No. 262 is to amend Chapter 24, Article 1Q Division 5, by deleting the existing no pazking
zone on the south side of Kopiko Street to provide additional pazking.
Bill No. 226 amends Chapter 24, Article 1 Q, Division 5, Section 24-280, Schedule 28 (No pazking at anytime),
subsection (f) Kona, of the Hawaii County Code 1983 (1995 Edition) is amended by deleting the following item:
[(31) Kopiko Street, on the south side, beginning at Palani Road and extending two hundred five feet
in the easterly direction.]
Communication No. 784 is a letter from Deputy Chief Engineer Jiro A. Sumada, dated May 9, 2000, which
transmits Bill No. 262 to the Council for its review and consideration. Mr. Sumada states that the Department
of Public Works received a request to provide additional pazking along Kopiko Street between Palani Road and
the Lanihau Shopping Center. The Department investigated this request and by deleting the existing no pazking
zone can provide additional parking.
Your Committee is in accord with the purpose and intent of Bill No. 262, and recommends that it pass first
reading.
