SUBJECT: Kulani Correctional Facility Discussion

I request 60 minutes for a discussion regarding the reopening of Kulani Correctional Facility.'
The scope of discussion would include the plans to reopen the facility, the proposal to
incorporate a pu'uhonua alternative that would incorporate Hawaiian cultural traditions in
support of reintegrating prisoners preparing to be released from prison, and the importance of a
prison agricultural garden program.
Please place this matter on the appropriate March 27, 2013 Committee agenda.
