Re: Resolution Accepting Donation
Enclosed is a resolution accepting a monetary donation of$5,000 from Ty Cordova, Public
Affairs Specialist, State Farm Insurance, 2828 Pa'a Street, Suite 1050, Honolulu, HI 96819 to the
Hawai`i County Fire Department. This money will be used by the Fire Department's Fire
Prevention division to provide training, supplies, and other needed items for the canine team of
Fire Captain Robert R. K. Perreira and"Kaimi",the division's arson canine.

B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
The donation was given in appreciation and to support our Fire Prevention division and its arson canine
team of Fire Captain Robert R. K. Perreira and "Kaimi". The funds are to be used to provide training,
supplies, and other needed items for the canine team.
This bureau is responsible for the review of various building plans and development project proposals in
addition to the enforcement of fire codes and regulations. Personnel conduct site and building inspections,
public education and fire safety and prevention training, and post fire incident investigations. The arson
canine team provides a critical tool in fire investigations.

RE: Resolution No. 83-13 : A Resolution Authorizing the Acceptance of a Monetary
Donation of$5,000 to the Hawai`i County Fire Department.
Pursuant to Section 2(g) of Rule 4 of the Rules of Procedure of the Council of the County of
Hawai`i, this written request is submitted with my approval that the above-referenced matter be
waived from the Committee on Finance to the full Council for immediate action. In reviewing
this matter, timely approval is crucial. It is therefore advantageous that approval is granted and
the matter be placed onto the next Council agenda for review. However, in the event this request
is denied, for whatever reason, I understand the matter shall be referred to the Committee on
Finance for placement on its future agenda.
