Your Committee on Public Works and Parks, to which was referred Communication No. 792,
and attached Bill No. 267, reports as follows:
The purpose of Bill No. 267 is to amend Chapter 24 of the Hawaii County Code 1983 (1995
Edition), relating to vehicles and traffic by adding a new section, authorizing to establish a
volunteer disabled parking enforcement program with the Hawaii County Police Department
to assist in the enforcement of county and state disabled parking laws on public and private
property.
Communication No. 792 is from Deputy Corporation Counsel Frederick Giannini, dated
May 18, 2000, transmitting Bill No. 267 for the Council's review and consideration.
Mr. Giannini states that the Mayor's Committee on People with Disabilities has reviewed it
and has asked his office to transmit the bill to the Council.
Your Committee is in accord with the purpose and intent of Bill No. 267, and recommends
that it pass first reading.
