Dear Chairman Yoshimoto and Council Members:
It is my pleasure to nominate John M. Bertsch of Council District 8 to the County of Hawaii
Police Commission. Mr. Bertsch is a 21-year resident of Hawaii. He is a self-employed
consultant in construction management.
Mr. Bertsch is a Volunteer Fire Captain with the Hawaii Fair Department. He is also the Director
of Public Safety Emergency Management for the Ironman Triathlon. Mr. Bertsch previously
served on the Police and Fire Commissions. He states that he is not affiliated with any political
party. If confirmed, he will replace Mr. Paul Homer and serve the remainder of that term that
ends on December 31, 2015.
