Re: Amending the Bond Authorization Ordinance
Enclosed is a bill for an ordinance that amends Ordinance 11-40 authorizing the issuance of general
obligation bonds for financing public improvements. The purpose of this measure is to amend the project
authorization amounts for two Housing projects.
The"Kawaihae Housing Closure" project was completed for less than the estimated amount authorized in
Ordinance 11-40. The"Kaloko Housing Project",also authorized in the same ordinance, is ongoing and
in need of additional funding in order to continue construction. The funding would also allow the County
to take advantage of additional federal funding that may be available if it can be used this fiscal year.
The proposed amendment to Ordinance 11-40 would reduce"Kawaihae Housing Closure"by
$1,291,332.55 and increase"Kaloko Housing Project"by that same amount. There is no change to the
total amount of the bond authorization.
